Private retreats:
Seeking serenity, stillness and time for prayer? Our Marist House of Light offers guests a place of tranquility and solitude where you can step back from your busy daily routine and connect with your spiritual centre.
Why not take some time to experience the gift that a retreat can offer? We offer a variety of Retreat experiences including those tailored to individual circumstances. Day, weekend and extended retreat times are available. Spiritual Direction is available for all ‘Marist House of Light’ guests.
Silent Book club:
Our book club meets on the last Friday of each month from 10am – 12pm. Cost is $5 plus the book cost.
The morning balances space for a catch up over coffee, time for quiet reading and an opportunity to explore with those gathered what has connected with them in the book you are reading. Participants can select a book of interest from the range on offer in our gift shop or library. It is a gentle time to nurture our spiritual world.

Spiritual direction in the Christian tradition has a long and honoured place in the history of the Christian Church.
A Spiritual Director is a fellow - traveller with professional training, life experience and maturity to offer, which is demonstrated in wisdom and discernment. An image of Spiritual Direction that relates to Spiritual Formation is the image of Jesus walking with the disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35)
Like Jesus the Spiritual Director aims to;
Meet each person where they are at.
Respect the sacredness of their story and experience.
Invite each to tell their story.
Listen to their experience.
Help each person to make sense of their personal reality.
Engage them with their own spiritual journey.
In this way the directee’s experience of life does not change but their understanding of it is transformed.
The Marist House of Light has two accredited and experienced Spiritual Directors; Br Bill Tarrant and Br Bill Sullivan. We would welcome contact from any person who might be considering Spiritual Direction.
